The City at Liang Court

Our little playgroup co-op tries to have regular playdates, and although we try to find free or cheap places to play at, we decided to bring the kids to The City on one of our playdates, so that they could have access to the various role-playing stations there.

Noah woke up early that morning, so we got there earlier than expected. He asked to have some corn for his breakfast, and shared it happily with his friend, Faith.

The City was empty when we got there slightly past 10am, which is pretty much what we expected on a weekday morning. I’ve heard that it can get really crowded on weekends, so it was good that we went on a weekday, as it allowed the children to explore the place freely.

The kids made a beeline for the Kitchen / Cafe section, where they had access to a wide variety of cooking equipment and food. There was a cash register, as well as some tables and chairs located in the same area, where the kids could serve and “eat” their dishes.

The next most popular zone was the Supermarket, where they could either be shoppers or cashiers. Shoppers could push mini trolleys around, and pick out items from the shelves, while the cashiers worked the cash registers and packed the items into recyclable bags.

Noah and his friends also enjoyed racing each other on the ride-ons there, though there were quite a few accidents. It’s a good thing all of us knew each other, or we would be quite stressed following our kids around the area to ensure that they were safe drivers.

The City has quite a few other play areas, such as the Clinic, Nursery, Beauty Salon, Post Office, Classroom, and a Superheroes dress-up station, but Noah and his friends weren’t very keen on all those stations, and spent their time in the Kitchen, Cafe, and Supermarket instead.

Overall, I think The City is quite a fun place for young children, because they’re into pretend play at this age. I don’t know about you, but I definitely don’t have such a wide range of toys for Noah to play with at home, so I thought it was a good experience for him, especially since he got to play there with some of his friends. Do try to visit it on a weekday if possible, and with a couple of friends, so that the kids can entertain each other.
