So, erm, remember how I was complaining saying that the Mag Mag Cup had a leaking problem? Turns out, it didn’t. I was the one with the problem. You see, we had received the Mag Mag All-in-One set as a gift some time ago, but because Noah doesn’t use bottles, I didn’t bother to take a closer look at it until he turned six months old and needed to drink water.
I removed the teat from the original set, and tried to fit the spout in. I wasn’t paying attention when I removed the teat, because that was clearly not what should have been done. Because I wasn’t attaching the spout correctly, water kept trickling out from the sides. I consulted my friend who also gives her son the Mag Mag, but she said she didn’t have the same problem, and suggested tugging the spout to make sure that it was secure. That obviously didn’t work, because I had put the spout in wrongly, but I hadn’t realised my mistake then, and assumed that the cup was poorly designed. Oops.
What I Did
What I SHOULD Have Done
I whined about the leaking cup endlessly to C, and insisted on buying a new sippy cup. My right shoulder was aching from feeding Noah water with a teaspoon. More importantly, it was a long and mind-numbing process, and I was convinced that my brain cells were dying a slow and painful death while I fed the baby water, teaspoonful by teaspoonful.
C very kindly took the Mag Mag cup from me and asked me to show him what was wrong. When he couldn’t figure out how to take the spout out, I even made fun of him for having an MBA but being unable to figure out a sippy cup. Yes, I know, I’m a bad wife.
Anyway, the gist of it is that C figured out that I was putting the spout in wrongly, and once he fixed that, ta-dah, no more leaking! Silly me. Heh.
