So it’s the last day of 2013, and I have a huge backlog of posts to write. Is it too late to ask Santa for a few “baby-free” days, so that I can write all of them? Who am I kidding? My “baby-free” time these days has been spent napping, reading, and watching Scandal.
I’m fully aware that I don’t really have deadlines, but I’d like to be able to blog more frequently. Somehow, whenever I get some ‘free’ time, ie when the baby is napping and I don’t have to do the laundry/bathe/brush my teeth/poop/cook, all I want to do is rest. No, I’m not pregnant, though I really wish I were, and I have no good excuse for being so tired, apart from you know, my full-time job of looking after the baby.
Our parents were here for a week, and I honestly thought that I would be able to blog more then, because they would be helping with the baby, but we were so busy bringing them around Adelaide that I was even more exhausted than usual! Yes, we did send the baby over to their apartment whenever we could, but we spent those precious hours catching up on lost sleep instead.
Erm, I think I’ve digressed quite a bit as usual. Anyway, 2013 has been quite an exciting year, and I’m very thankful that we’ve been blessed with so many new experiences. I decided to buy my own domain name and self-host this blog, and it’s been a great year of meeting new people via my blog. We went on various trips with the baby, and right now, we’re living in a different country for a few months. I’ve always wanted to be able to experience life overseas as a family for a couple of months, and I’m so glad that we’re in Australia, where everything is so readily available, rather than a developing country.
I think the best part about being here, is that we have so much family time together. C has only gone on a one-day business trip to Melbourne so far, and it wasn’t even an overnight trip, so it just seemed like a slightly longer workday for him. He will, however, be going to the US for a week in Jan, and it’s going to be a challenge for me to be alone here with Noah. Hopefully, it will be an uneventful week for us, and I pray that God will bless us with good health, protect us from harm, and grant me an extra portion of patience, to manage Noah on my own!
We don’t know what 2014 will bring, and we don’t even know when we will be back in Singapore yet. We are praying that C will be based in Singapore for some time after this trip, and that even if he gets another overseas posting, we will be able to travel with him again. I really dislike having him away from us, and yes, I know we can easily communicate on FaceTime daily, but it’s just not the same.
C and I would sit down at the end of each year to talk about the highs and lows of the year, as well as to make some New Year’s resolutions. Each year, we would resolve to eat less, exercise more, and lose weight, but erm, that hasn’t quite happened yet. This year, I think I’d like try to set more achievable goals for myself.
1. Cook more frequently
2. Start baking again
3. Be less of a helicopter parent* (I don’t think I really am, but I would like Noah to be more independent!)
4. Pay more attention when C talks about his work, and actually understand what he does
5. Blog more frequently
What do you think? Pretty doable, right?

Happy New Year, everyone!
Wake me up when it’s 2014…
PS. We’ve been praying that God will bless us with another baby next year, and that we won’t have to go through IVF again for our next child, so please do pray with us too?
