I’ve been down with a fever since Monday, and it really hasn’t been easy trying to look after Noah while I’m feeling giddy. Thank God that C was able to work from home on Tuesday, and that my mum was able to take leave to help out today, as C had to leave for a short business trip.
I’ve always wondered how SAHMs cope when they fall ill. When I went to the doctor, all she could prescribe was Panadol, for the fever, and rest. I was like, “Huh? How to rest?” I still breastfeed Noah, and this little guy asks for milk many, many times a day. He has been spitting out whatever porridge I shove into his mouth, which means I can’t even get him to eat, and therefore, I have to give him more milk. I also have been experiencing nausea, (no, I’m not pregnant, unfortunately.) body aches, and giddiness, so it’s been a real challenge to even drink water.
What do you mean, mummy’s sick and can’t play with me?
I guess I should consider myself blessed enough to have C take over bathing Noah on Monday night, when I could hardly walk, and that Noah slept from 10pm to 530am that night, even though I woke up at 3am to take my medicine. He refused to go back to sleep after his milk at 530am, but the sleeping problem is another story. Noah also took a really long afternoon nap with me yesterday, and the rest really made a lot of difference. I was able to eat more at dinner, and to read with him before bedtime, which I think, made both of us happy. He woke up four times last night, but thank God my mum came early to watch him today, so I managed to take a nap.
I pray that I’ll recover quickly, and that Noah and C won’t catch whatever virus I’ve got. It’s really tough when the primary caregiver is sick!
